The Engine
Turbo Jet Turbine Turbo shaft engine,
· Max thrust (5 minute rating): 160lb
· Engine weight: 22kg
· Max RPM: 60,000 RPM
· Total fuel consumption: 20.5 lt/min
· Fuel tank: approx 18lt
Control
· Lean steer turning
Acceleration and Power
- trigger grip style control where the rider can use their pointer finger to control acceleration for dynamic acceleration, this method does not have a set and leave option.
Power to the board is supplied via a deep cycle battery which is wired through three kill switches located around the board.
- A third is Located on the opposite side of the riders kill switch and is mainly used for starting the board. In the event of an emergency this can also be used to shut down the board
- The first kill switch is a cable attached to the rider from the left side of the board. In the event of an emergency the cable is pulled free and everything shuts down.
- A secondary unit is positioned behind at the rear of the board. In the event an emergency happens that the rider cannot see a second person can hit that button and shut the entire system down.
ONLY with all three kill switches in the ARMED position can anything work, you may notice this same set up in some motor sports.
Projections & Statistical info
At 200kph or (124.2742mph)
· An 83mm wheel will spin at 12780rpm
· An 85mm wheel spins at 12480rpm
At full throttle the engines will be burning a Total fuel consumption of 10.2 lt/min
Acceleration
Let’s use the intermediate drag coefficient of 0.0006, and a useful thrust of say 370 lbs, after rolling resistance is taken into account, pushing 2.8 sq ft of surface thru the air.
370 = 0.0006 X 2.8 X velocity squared in ft/sec, so 370 divided by 0.0006 and again divided by 2.8 = 220,238 this is our velocity squared, so a sq root of that is 469 ft/sec = 320 mph - 515 kph
At 515kph 83mm wheels will be doing 32,960rpm, though not possible.
Even using the larger drag coefficient of 0.0008 its still 406 ft/sec 277 mph - 445 kph.
Over the Quarter mile
Let’s use a conservative 30 ft/sec 2, after 12 seconds the board will be doing 360 ft./sec - 245 mph, that’s a bit fast, let’s go back to 10 seconds and 300 ft/sec and 204 mph, still too fast.
6 seconds and 180 ft/sec 122 mph -196kph....... matched world record !!!
