What an interesting couple of days. you do a couple interviews and the next thing you're doing is battling the Pope for best clip of the week.
If you're not sure what i'm on about, thanks to the hard work of Tom from World Reach PR i recently did an interview with Reuters news agency. after doing that, two days later i get this email. "Hey Daz – just for your info you were just outside the top 10 news videos in the world yesterday with 93 different networks using you globally. If it wasn't for the Ukraine and the Pope you’d have been in the top 5!" So needless to say it provided me with much laughings and many funnies. so i had a look around on the web and here are some links i found. Metro (UK) Motherboard (US) Der Spiegel (Germany) BBC (UK) Sky News (UK) Stern (Germany) NDTV (China) El Mundo (Spain) Yahoo News (UK) Sueddeutsche (Germany) Publico (Spain) i can finally talk about what we have been doing the last couple of days. so basically the jet luge is now in a finished shape. with that said, we decided to show it off to the world. we held a media launch and had a few reports show up from not only Australia's press, but also the world media. that was a pleasant surprise.
Now without any further adieu i can finally show you the finished jet luge. Well as all good things need some kind of funds to move forwards and so does this. Soooo i have launched a campaign with a limited number of shirts and hoodies in varying shapes and styles. i think you'll love them, they were rated very highly by my mum. i have plenty to choose from for the guys and gals. 50% of the total made will go the the Westmead Childrens Hospital and the rest goes on my jet luge and getting it to the next stage of manufacture. So head on over to the Shop and pick yourself up a t-shirt before they are all gone or we run out of time. The best part about this campaign is if the goal is not reached you will not be charged anything. so help me out to help the kids and get some cool gear while doing it. please share and spread the word because it all ends on the June 19th 2014. While I have been working hard on getting the board in its final stages before making the mold, Tom from World Reach PR has also been working hard at organizing the launch of the official announcement that we will be going for the Guinness land speed record for a powered street luge.
thanks to his hard work and commitment on Monday 26th I'll be announcing to the world what I'll be attempting to do. keep an eye out and you may see or hear something in the near future. In the meantime here is a sneak peek of some stuff I've been doing lately. Well it's been a busy busy couple of months for me, but unfortunately most of it has been spent on trying to live. funny how that happens. rather than cut a short story long, here is the TL;DR version, sold car for cheaper car to have money for jet luge. new car gearbox breaks. leaves me broke no car. almost lose job because can't get to work.
Everything is ok now, in that i got transport. i picked up a dumped car for $50 WOOHOO! and managed to get it registered, JUST haha. Unfortunately i'm now broke, which is what bring me here today. i actually really hate asking for anything, especially money. but i have to finish what i started, so i'm asking for donations not in money but in Dogecoin. I still need about $47,000AUD to finish my board and break the land speed record. while i'm not expecting to get this amount, anything would be of help. Just like anything that is donated to me HALF of everything that is donated to me will go straight to the childrens hospital to help the next generations of dreamers. So i ask if there are any of you shibes are out there, please help me to the moon! For a direct deposit to my wallet use the code below: DCPjXDjaDY5AoTPFRMDxQ4Z7yYvpt9oZ4B i know it's been ages since i posted an update. The simple answer as to why, life, life sometimes gets in the way. those of you following this know i am by no means a rich man, so from time to time i have to focus on living rather than the jet luge so i can survive. i know most people can understand and those of you reading this i thank you for your support.
The good news is i have been busy working on the turbines in the little spare time i have had. we have completely rebuilt one and we are set to do the other in the next week or two. the other thing we did was built a test stand that will give us live data as to what the turbines are doing. from this data we can fine tune the engines and get them working more in sync with each other. this will help keep me on a straight path when under power. the test stand gives us RPM, temperature, turbine pressure and most importantly thrust. we can also fine tune the afterburners on each turbine. there is still plenty of work to be done but with the creation of this stand we step closer and close to a more reliable and safe set of turbines. if the picture isn't enough for you and you'd like to see more about the turbine and stand you can watch the video for a runthrough of how it all works. We have completed he first wind tunnel tests with the new Mk2 and they were a huge success. we were very surprised with the results and with the new data obtained we have learnt that very little is needed to change. we will be making some small changes to the board to help with downforce. but other than that, basically nearly all buffeting was very minimal. will look to CFD it in the near future so we can run it through some different scenarios. but we hope to have it back in the wind tunnel again to test the changes we have made. i cannot thank the guys enough for doing this. the information provided is something we would never have been able to get otherwise.
It turns out that a little bit of the cat has gotten out of the bag and people are writing things about me without me knowing. it's rather funny to see things your doing on other peoples websites haha.
all in all it's i'm fine with it and look forward to more people being inspired to follow their dreams. follow the link HERE to see the write up on the Gizmodo.com.au website. thanks again whoever emailed me this to let me know about it. I recently did an interview with the guys over at Road & Track magazine which was great! bloody nice bunch of blokes i hope to meet in person some day. any way, they put the words that came from my mouth onto a thing that makes them possible to see. Pretty cool right?! so follow the link and you can see my words HERE.
I've been so busy with the board i haven't been able to do to many update on here of late. i have however been updating my facebook page. it's just been a little more convenient for me to get to while running between places. if you don't have my facebook page simply click on the link below to be taken there. I'll be making some appearances around the traps. go to my APPEARANCES page for full details.
I also recently did an interview with Channel 7 and i hope to have the raw footage of that interview available for you all to see shortly. |
